WHAT DO YOU BOAST OF?

————————————–

*πŸ‘‰VERSE:* _*”For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters…”_(2Timothy 3:2)

βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–

A true Christian knows that God has enriched and spiced him or her up with so many prestigious things to dignify humankind, for HIS own glory to spread far and near. The Word of God strictly admonishes every faithful follower of Christ, not to boast of certain peculiar talents, wealth, opportunities and statuses. This is because it leads to the spread of vainglory and the trust in man’s might. They are both sinful in the sight of God (Jeremiah 17:5, Philippians 2:3).

*Simply put, humankind cannot boast of anything but of Christ Jesus alone; the source of all good things and achievements in this world, including our salvation from sin (1Corinthians 1:29-31).* In these last days, vainglory and boastfulness are immensely accounting for the high rate of perilous situations prevailing in the world.

In 1Corinthians 4:7, God tells us through Apostle Paul, *that there is nothing we have, which we didn’t receive. We can’t claim ownership of anything. All good things are received from God alone.* If this fundamental truth is inarguably the point made by the Holy Bible, then none of us can boast of our performance, wealth, beauty, positions, privileges or any other thing. They are all perishable things of this ending and corrupt world.

Boast of God who had mercy on you, instead of extolling, bragging and commending yourself to popularize yourself and catch the attention of others. *Utilize the time you spend on vainglory and high minded competitions, to boast of our Lord Jesus Christ who is second to none in all acts of holiness.*

*PRAYER* Lord Jesus Christ, help me to exclude myself in boasting of you. *AMEN*

COVETOUS CONSEQUENCES

————————————–

*πŸ‘‰VERSE:* _*”For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous,…”_(2Timothy 3:2)

βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–

William Barclay once said, *”Covetousness is therefore, a sin with wide range. If it is the desire for money, it leads to theft. If it is the desire for money, it leads to theft. If it is the desire for prestige, it leads to evil ambition. If it is the desire for power, it leads to sadistic tyranny. If it is the desire for a person, it leads to sexual sin.”*

Is there any good or bad conduct in this world which has no consequence? *The philosophy of cause and effect, doesn’t in any way sideline or exclude covetousness; the immoderate desire for wealth and personal properties.* Christians and Jews will be able to tell us that one of the Ten Commandments which Moses collected on behalf of the Hebrews, stipulates a strong warning against covetousness (Exodus 20:17).

*Covetousness and envy are indissolubly, intimate bedfellows who cannot come together to give rise to any godly act but to rebel against God.* It is a sin against God, which stirs up discontentment and self conceit in an individual who is to live for God. *As if that’s not enough, it raises conflict to attack a person’s internal peace. This inward disorderliness will result in man’s external loss of all that should be his share out of God’s priceless possessions.* Did you hear the word “priceless”? The wealth of man and the beauty of qualities have descriptions but God’s provisions for us is far greater than what we see here.

*A covetous person always sees through the deceitful and perverse lenses of Satan. It makes you wallow in the mire of inferiority, to disbelieve all that God has given you to lack nothing and be yourself (Psalm 23:1, Philippians 4:19).*It makes you wilfully ignorant about your status as child of God who lacks nothing needful on earth, and also have treasures to boast of in Heaven.

To whom much is given, much is expected of him as the Holy Bible says. Don’t mind those who are trapped by the overabundance of their wealth and possession. *Show God your prayer of petition He will easily know whether you are covetous or not. Covetousness is championing the cause of carnality to overturn the possessions that await hardworking and content Christians*

*PRAYER* Lord Jesus, save me from all acts of covetousness and keep me content. *AMEN*

REBELLIOUS LOVE

————————————–

*πŸ‘‰VERSE:* _*”For men shall be lovers of their own selves,…”_(2Timothy 3:2)

βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–

God is the epitome of love, who seeks to present Himself everywhere through the dispersion of Himself. He resides in the pure hearts of those who have washed their garments in the Blood of the Lamb, thereby calling together all those who have dedicated themselves to live by His holiness as children of God. This love is always looking for places to manifest itself in the lives of people in our families, communities and the world as a whole.

Come to the knowledge of this love which knows no compromise with aberrations seen in its rebellious kind. The love of God may include benevolence, mercifulness, care for others, accommodating their weaknesses to make room for God to reconcile them to Himself and the desire to make their lives better.

Rebellious love, on the other hand, opposes God’s divine agenda for saving humankind with His unsearchable love demonstration, to negate evil and bring it to a halt. This love is the fake form of God’s love because it doesn’t save souls for God; but it condemns them to think and do things selfishly. They think of their own interests and live for the flesh. That is why people in these last days have turned into lovers of themselves, hating to live according to the tenets of God’s love. All that rebellious love does is to make you insensitive to the hardships people are going through by placing yourself first and being heartless.

Such people are always thinking about the favor to get from men due to their evil achievements, looking down on others and adoring the material things that are passing away. No wonder people engage in all sorts of evil activities in the name of “rights to do what I want”. Pursue the love of God which makes you acknowledge the value of others. To God, every soul counts, and that is why they need your love. They are all profitable to confirm good works.

*PRAYER* Lord Jesus, let your love cancel every rebellious love in me, as we are in the last days. *AMEN*

SEEK THE STRENGTH OF THE LORD

“`”Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually”
1Chron. 16:11KJV“`
βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–
The root of a tree extracts nutrients from the soil so does the branch has its source of strength from the main tree. A branch in isolation has no root to tab anything from the soil so it dies and it’s used as firewood. We can boast of everything we have but we own nothing in this world. That’s why God created everything before creating man; Adam came to meet an already made world. Man hasn’t added anything to what God has made; we are just utilising, subduing and replenishing what was available for our own good. Actually, What we claim to be ours was proffered to us by God. Therefore, Man is vulnerable and impotent without God. We can’t be straight without God’s strength. So all that we are left to do is to seek His face and strength continually.

We must turn to the Lord, not from him; search for his favour, support, will and acknowledge him in all our ways. He is our only source of happiness, without him life is meaningless; without him, the purpose of life can’t be achieved. Those who tried to live by themselves alone never attained their real purpose of life. Many are deceive that once they have money and are rich, then their lives’ ambitions are accomplished so they don’t see the need to seek God and his strength.

Beloved, let’s desire God’s strength that his Spirit will work in us those things we cannot do but by strength derived from him.
Those who are strengthened in the inward man extracted their strength from God by faith and prayer .

Strengthen me oh Lord Jesus and help me to seek your presence daily.

THE MOTIVE BEHIND SIN

“And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake”.
Gen. 20:11KJV

βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–
When Abimelec, king of Gerrar queried Abraham about the reason of his falsities, Abraham had no other choice than to heartily blurt out his surreptitious excuse of his lies. After the incident of Sodom and Gomorrah, he thought all the other countries were same; they had no fear of God. Wherefore, he lied to remain alive.

Sometimes we hurriedly aligned the behaviors of others to other brethren whom we may not even know any tangible facts about their true character. We may be judging others based on one person’s behavior and thereby causing havoc in the lives of precious souls. The life of a person must not be jest with the lies within us.

Indeed Sarah was Abraham’s sister, the daughter of his father but not his mother and she became his wife. But this wasn’t an excuse to kindle the wrath of God in the life of an innocent soul through any falsifications in order to save his life. Once again these were written for our warning and lessons not for us to imitate . Don’t wilfully sin against God just because Abraham and some other characters in the bible did same. Don’t put the Lord your God to test, he knows the motive behind every sin committed.
Whiles man look at the physical deeds, He looks at the intentions.
βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–
PRAYER:

Glory be unto your name Lord Jesus for your mercy and truth. Please wash my heart and mind of any evil thoughts against my brethren in your name.

AMEN

WHAT MADE YOU DO THIS?

“And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?”
Gen. 20:10KJV

βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–
In this world, there is absolutely no sin without a cause; before sin is an excuse. None sin without a cerebrate best known to Him. We always have something to defend ourselves when we are queried of our bad demeanors, that reveals our human nature. Adam prepared a very suitable excuse for his sin and confessed it immediately he was asked. No wonder the very faithful servant of God, Abraham fell into this trap. But these things are written for our warning not for us to imitate it.

When Abraham sojourned in Gerar, where Abimelec was king, he told Sarah to disguise herself of being his sister. Ignorantly, Abimelec took Sarah but God knowing the sincerity of his heart withheld him from touching her thereby causing His wrath upon himself.
When the Lord gave his commandments to Moses concerning sin offerings, he made mention of the offering of ignorant sin: “And if any one of the common people sin through *ignorance* , while he doeth somewhat against any of the commandments of the LORD concerning things which ought not to be done, and be guilty; Or if his sin, which he hath sinned, come to his knowledge: then he shall bring his offering, a kid of the goats, a female without blemish, for his sin which he hath sinned(Lev.4:27-28)”.

This means that every sin will be judged, even if you did out of sincere ignorance. God told Abimelec to restore Sarah to Abraham lest he die. The King, when rebuking the prophet of God of his falsification, did not insult him but reproved him to know the reason behind his lies. He wanted to know what Abraham saw that he lied to him so he seems to ask “Did you see any of my people taking the wives of strangers and murdering their husbands, that you should lie to me? Don’t you know you would have brought the wrath of God upon me? What at all caused you to do such a thing?.

Beloved in the Lord, let’s reminisce the cause of our reactions towards others for it may be a hindrance to their destinies. Let’s always ask ourselves “What was my reason for doing this? what possessed me to do such a thing? What did I see that I did this thing? What did I intend when I did this? And what at all made me do this?.

PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, please forgive me for hurting others in any way. Please help me to love them even as you’ve loved me.

SHAME ONTO ENVY

*πŸ‘‰VERSE:* _*”For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one”_(Job 5:2)

βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–βž–

An English writer and philosopher in the person of William Hazlitt, once said *”Envy is a littleness of soul, which cannot see beyond a certain point, and if it doesn’t occupy the whole space, feels itself excluded”* It is good to emulate good examples of those who have recorded success in an area or matter of your interest without being envious of them. *Once a person becomes envious, there is a vacant space for the devil to drive him into pride and the seeking of vainglory.*

Envious people lack the needed focus to arrive at the purpose for which they are on earth. Unlike others, they always see themselves to be unprivileged and disadvantaged. They see themselves at the lacking end and downplay what makes them outstanding. He always places the envied between him and God and for that reason, He doesn’t see himself in the mirror of Christ but his life becomes dictated by the one who is turning him into this act of discontentment.

Beauty, ostentatiousness, status, talents and all other things which accounts for one’s envy, are meant to advise you to work on what will make you useful and unique to those you have adored and rated as superior to you. *You are not a commoner but a thoroughly furnished child of God who has all that it takes to be comfortable in Christ without complaining.* Part ways with envy and move on with full contentment. Remember the Spanish proverb which says, *”envy is thin because it bites but never eat”*

*PRAYER* Father in Heaven, may envy never be found in me any more in Jesus name. *AMEN*
