“Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.”
God had a covenant with David concerning his children that if they’ll hearken unto Him and obey all His commandments, then will He be with them and establish them. But if they forsake Him, He will chastise them with the rod, though His mercy won’t depart from them. When Solomon, the son of David became king, God reinforced this covenant with Him and seasoned it with wisdom and wealth.
Although Solomon fulfilled his purpose of building a house for God, he didn’t follow all the commandments of the Lord as did his father David. As a result, God rented ten tribes of the kingdom from the tribe of Judah and gave it to Jeroboam, instead of Rehoboam, his son. In the aftermath of this, Rehoboam, prepared to battle against the house of Israel to redeem the kingdom back to his tribe out of ignorance; For he didn’t know it was given to Jeroboam in fulfilment of God’s prophecy by Ahijah, the prophet. So the Lord stayed them from warring against their brethren for He said, “…this thing is from me”.
Beloved, there are many things going on in your life that its source is from God. He allows us to pass through the fire to burn all filthiness and makes us shine as the sun. Sometimes we blame ourselves, others or even the devil for the pains we bear, but we must remember that He knows exactly what He is making us to be. We may not understand now, but we will later and will joyfully proclaim in thanksgiving that “this thing was from God!”
PRAYER: I don’t understand what’s going on in my life, oh Lord. But I do believe your invisible hand is always upon me and moulding me to be a vessel of honor in Jesus name.
